| Terk was a 25 year-old company that designed, manufactured and distributed branded radio and TV antennas as well as selected components for sound/stereo systems. We acquired it in July 2001 with the expectation that wireless communications would grow rapidly and antennas would benefit greatly. We recruited a CEO from among our contacts in the security industry. Our investment thesis proved correct and, despite the unexpected death in 2003 of the company's founder and chief product designer, sales grew from $20 million to more than $50 million. We successfully sold Terk to a strategic acquirer in January 2005. |
